A conversation in the garden one morning about throwing rocks in a pond had us brainstorming ways we could add this wonderful experience safely to our outdoor space, using the resources we already have available.
We began with a crate in one corner of the rock garden that has been so popular we decided to go bigger, and we brought the idea to our circle. Imaginations went wild as we worked together on some water feature designs. Aspects of the Pirate Island ideas popped up (we want a water explosion like a volcano) and there was a new focus on safety as we considered how to run pipes around the garden without getting in the way of other play. The problem-solving was thoughtful and realistic and we were able to make a bit of a wishlist of plumbing bits to get the impact we want. This project is now underway and we’ve been able to keep it portable so we aren’t adding any hazards to our shared spaces. We have a couple of final wrinkles to iron out and then… watch this space!
