From Monday the 24th of August until Friday the 28th of August, Kurilpa will be celebrating book week across the centre. This year’s book week theme is: Books light up our world!
As always, we set a theme for each day of the week! Here are the themes we have for this year:
Monday 24 August – Pyjama Day
Tuesday 25 August – Teddy Bears’ Picnic (Bring along your favourite teddy)
Wednesday 26 August – Dress-up as your favourite book character!
Thursday 27 August – Pyjama Day
Friday 28 August – Dress-up day! (Dress-up in anything you’d like!)
Children are also invited to bring along their favourite story to share with the class on any day of the week. Families are also invited to participate by coming in and reading a story to small groups of children, please liaise with your child’s educators to arrange a suitable time.
As part of our celebrations we will be selling books from Avid Reader (a community book store located in Boundary Street, West End) which will be displayed in the hallway on top of the shelves located between the nursery/toddler rooms and junior kindy. The books will be on display for two weeks. Kurilpa receives 10% of all profits from books sold that we use towards purchasing books for the centre. Also, during the month of August if you purchase a book from Avid Reader Bookstore and let them know you are a Kurilpa family, they will put this purchase towards our 10% profit.
Thanks,
The Kurilpa Team
