The Sushi Train was a child initiated experience which began when a child spoke about a family dining experience. After some interest was shown, Nat and the children decided to make a Kurilpa Sushi Train.
Firstly, we brainstormed the children’s questions and ideas… “How can we make a Sushi Train?” “How will we keep the bowls on without falling off?” Then we gathered the materials and ingredients and prepared our sushi.
The children sat together, taking turns cutting, peeling, smashing, spooning and rolling. The final stage was a combined picnic with the Kindergarten class, fostering the strong sense of community here at Kurilpa.
